LIFE

Dear Sirs:

For the past several years we have been receiving volumes of Life World, Science, Nature, Libraries and Great Ages of Man. I have always been impressed by the content and illustrations of yours books and treat them as I would a scientific text-book.

I have just finished reading two books by Immanuel Uelikovsky "Worlds in Collision" and "Earth in Upheaval". In these works, the author puts forth the theory of global catastrophes, updates the end of the Ice Age to 3, 500 years ago, disputes Darwin's theory of natural selection and attributes documented global catastrophes to extraterrestrial sources.

It would appear that Mr. U's opinions, which were expressed in 1950, are every day being substantiated by archeological and geological evidence. If this is the case why is his theory not incorporated in your volumes, which still deal with 25, 000 year old ice ages?

As a housewife with small children I must rely almost completely on your volumes for [...] information. If my acceptance of this theory is wrong please correct me, as I am greatly concerned that a view which apparently caused such an uproar in scientific circles was discounted by publishers with your reputation for-

Make no mention of the mounds of extinct mammal bones associated with remains of Bronze Age man discovering buried under tons of uprooted forests?
